Porcelain: Crested Ware, page 1 - 2 - 3 - 4

William Henry Goss, owner of the Falcon pottery in Stoke-on-Trent, is credited with the idea of making souvenir ware bearing the crests and names of seaside resorts like Blackpool and Southend-on-Sea that had grown in popularity in the late 19th century. They made tiny replicas of visitor attractions like statues and classical shapes of Roman and Greek antiquities. Many other potteries realised the potential and made their own souvenir items.
